In the past week, my dad and I began to work on the set design for my film. He is immensly more skilled than I when it comes to woodwork, so the boats final look is due to him! I began with a few rough size measurements, which I gave to him. Due to us having different daily schedules, we had to work together when there was free time. He would often make parts of the boat and show them to me, where we would make adjustments or come up wit different ideas on how to tackle certain issues. Another set we had to create was a mini scale version of the boat, which would be used for shots such as a wide angle, to show how small the boat really was. Below is a slideshow showcasing the boats progress from beginning to end. Both boats side by side:

During the past week, I have been sketching various designs for the main character of my film, who is now simply called The Fisherman. I have also done the entire storyboard, as well. All of these pages are shown below! Since the project began back in October, I have made many drafts of the script based upon the logline (posted last week) that was created for last semester’s assignment. The script was re-written multiple times as I was unsure if I should go for a character who could speak, or was mute. I decided to opt for the idea of having a character who mumbled and grunts, kind of like how the characters in the Lego Star Wars Video Game series talk. Below is the final version of the script! The final project began back in October of 2019, where we had an assigment surrounding the planning of our films. I decided that I would do a stop-motion animation, as it was a medium that I love so much, and recently got back to earlier in the year.
My idea was about a fisherman who, after becoming a social outcast, triew to reclaim his glory days, after the opportunity arrises to recapture his youth in some form. I've always liked the idea of falling down and getting back up, especially with how common it is in the real world. I also want to dwelve into themes of isolation, as it is something that everyone faces in life, in some shape or form/ One of our tasks in that assignment was to create a logline; a one page detailed analysis of the story of our film. This is the center of this post. The analysis is pretty detailed, and an image of it is posted below: |
